First commute with my new E-Bike Giant Quick E+
I started in the morning at around 4:20 am. The train station is about 23km away - and I need to get an early one, because normally I start at 6 am in the morning. So, jumped on the bike and hit the road. I tried to use as less battery power as possible but have a average speed of around 30km/h. This way I get the train at 4:59 am - or at least 5:13 am. The strategy is - if there low terrain - I go with ECO Modus, which is the lowest support from the e-motor. With the correct gear - I can hold on flat terrain around 32-35 km/h in average. On hills I use NORMAL support - which is the 2. level in support. With this support I also hold the 30km/h.
Today this worked out excellent. Well, from a battery saving perspective. I missed the train at 4:59 am by one minute. So I had some time to take a picture of the station at 5:00 am. Hm. Ok. This is not a nice place to be at this time.
After the short hop on the train - the second trip to office is around 14km - which was done today in around 28 minutes.
At 5 pm I started my tour heading home. I wanted to go the shortest way - because on my way back I do not use the train. Till around the middle of the tour - everything was fine. Then I felt a strange whopping and yes the back wheel was flat. These tires are NO FLAT, KEVLAR GUARDED YOU WILL NEVER HAVE A PROBLEM TIRES FROM Schwalbe I sweared like a trooper. 😬 I was more or less in the middle of nowhere. I had my repair kit - but no air pump. I knew exactly where my air pump was. Mounted on my race bike. At home. 20km away. I checked google for the nearest bicycle dealer - 2km away. But it was already 6:13 pm - the dealer closed at 6:00pm. Anyway - maybe someone is around - or sometimes some bicycle dealers has a small repair kit in front of the store including an airpump. Lucky me - this was also the case here. Thanks to Radsport Duell Holzgerlingen I could inflate to 4 Bar again. I waited 5 minutes if it goes flat again. Nothing happened (?). Pressure was also there - still 4 Bar. Hm. Strange. I decided to take the risk and ride to the next bigger city - there was another Bike Store with some repair equipment and air pump accessible also when the store is closed. Around 12 km away.
It worked out. I reached the other bike store - and checked the pressure again. Still 4 Bar. I do not have any explanation for that. I drove the last 8km - and arrived at home with no flat tire.
I go one thursday the next time. You know what - now it is 9:26 pm. I go - and check the tire. If it is still 4 Bar - I'm really wondering how a tire can be flat - and then after inflating it again it stays at 4 Bar.
Still 4 Bar. Ok. Maybe this is a little small Bike Commuter wonder.
